The civil war in Sudan has brought about the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Famine is widespread in several areas and more than 30 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. More than 150 000 people are feared to have died since the outbreak of war.
Sweden is one of the world’s largest donors to Sudan, and is now donating an additional SEK 100 million in support through the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) for humanitarian operations for the civilian population in Sudan.
This support will go towards counteracting famine, protecting civilians and providing shelter for displaced people.
