Africa must embrace its inherent richness and potential, relying solely on its own strengths and gifts to thrive. It is crucial that Africans come together in solidarity, fostering unity and collaboration amongst our nations and communities. By harnessing the diverse and abundant natural resources that our continent is blessed with—ranging from vast mineral wealth to fertile lands and rich biodiversity—we should focus on utilizing these assets effectively for the advancement and prosperity of our people. Through strategic management and sustainable practices, we have the opportunity to shape a self-sufficient future where Africa can stand strong and progress, independent of external…
Former Botswana President Ian Khama has openly criticized Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, calling her an “illegitimate president.” Speaking about Tanzania’s recent election, Khama said: “From what transpired during and after the elections — including the killings that took place — I, for one, do not recognize the person who was inaugurated as the President of Tanzania. She is an illegitimate president.” He condemned leaders who cling to power through violence and electoral manipulation, stating: “It is totally unacceptable for any African leader to kill their own people just to remain in power. To rig an election as if they…
Recent comments by the President of Uganda regarding the Indian Ocean have once again underscored the long-standing Pan-African vision of a United States of Africa—one in which the resources of the Indian Ocean are shared equitably among all African nations. His remarks highlight a core principle of true continental integration: no African country should remain landlocked or deprived of access to strategic natural resources simply because of colonial-era borders. To illustrate the imbalance, Madagascar alone has a coastline of approximately 4,828 km, the longest in Africa. Somalia, on the other hand, holds the longest mainland coastline on the continent, stretching…
🌍Africa DESERVES BETTER 👊🏿 For centuries, the continent has carried the weight of the world on its shoulders — its resources fueling global empires, industries, and economies. Yet Africa remains portrayed as the one that needs saving, assistance, or direction. The truth is simple: Africa isn’t poor — it’s being drained. Oil shipped out. Cocoa exported raw. Minerals flown away. Policies influenced from outside. Corporations extracting wealth without building futures. And still, the world wonders why Africa struggles. This image speaks loudly: Africa’s strength is undeniable, but the ropes of exploitation remain. Neocolonialism didn’t come with flags and armies —…
Uganda has announced that it will no longer grant refugee status to people from countries that are not currently at war, including Ethiopia, Somalia, and Eritrea. That’s according to reporting from The Daily Monitor. The decision comes amid dwindling donor support, with a refugee population now nearing two million. This reportedly has strained resources and services in the African nation. The country’s Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hilary Onek, added that Uganda used to receive $240 million annually from UNHCR but now gets less than $100 million from donors, and this year, only $18 million was received. Officials…
New data from Uganda’s Family Division of the High Court shows that up to 80% of divorce cases filed are by women. Statistics obtained by The Daily Monitor from the Family Division show that by the end of September, over 1,300 divorce cases had been brought forward. The majority of petitions were filed by women, who, according to court documentation, complained of physical assault and domestic violence, verbal abuse, disrespect, psychological torture, including prolonged silent treatment, persistent quarrels, and humiliation. A significant number of petitioners also raised complaints of infidelity. #DWAfrica
